Every once in a while, I come across a designer whose work photographs are so spectacular that I need more than the standard half second to absorb them. Ken Fulk has recently fallen into that category. Looking at an image of his interiors is the visual equivalent of eating a serving platter work of tiny petit fours.
The above room was done for a show house, which means that Mr. Fulk spent his very own money on the project. This is especially impressive to those who recognize the de Gourney mural. Hand-painted on silk with no repeat, such a mural runs at $600 a square foot.
Believe it or not, you can actually do a version of this at home. The background color is Benjamin Moore Tarrytown Green. There are many incredible floral murals online, especially at Etsy. Try this one:
Those adorable petal-shaped chairs are the iconic Gubi Beetle chairs, which start at $420. Luckily, Joss & Main has shamelessly produced a replica for $230:
There are plenty of cement tables to complement the look, which you should please not buy. They stain. You are welcome, however, to accent with this rug from Shades of Light. The outdoor rating means that it’s super-duper durable.
For a more adventurous take, you can try live moss from Etsy or faux succulents from Pottery Barn:
