The excitement was in the air for opening night of the second of the Queens Jewish Hockey League (QJHL). From the time the first puck dropped until the final whistle, there was cheering, high fives, and intensity.

In Game 1, Yaakov Dovid Kazarnovsky had a Hat trick for “Maven” who came up with a big win against “Main Street Bagels” 5-0. In Game 2, it was a very back-and-forth game between “Allstate–The Meltzer Agency” and “Wasserman’s.” Avrumi Barnett, who had 2 goals in the game, led off the scoring with a top shelf goal for Wasserman’s just 2 minutes into the first period. But Aron Biderman for “Meltzer” answered right back. With the clock winding down in the third period, Biderman scored again, tying the game 3-3 at the end of regulation. With only 24 seconds passing in overtime, Gabi Newman scored, to give a 4-3 win to “Meltzer.”

The most important part was that there were smiles and achdus all around. We would to thank our team sponsors for this season: Maven Auto Sales, Main Street Bagels, Allstate Insurance–The Meltzer Agency, and Wassermann’s Supermarket.
