Shimi Pelman is well known for his innovative and pioneering efforts in the healthcare industry. Mr. Pelman’s acumen and philanthropic efforts shine in his role as president of Tomchei Shabbos of Queens, where he has humbly been a leading force feeding the community’s hungry long before the concept was popular. Mr. Pelman is also widely recognized throughout New York City for his vast array of political connections, largely due to maintaining the male district leader seat in for the 27th Assembly District in Queens where Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal proudly reigns.
This past week, Pelman took time to advocate with some of our elected officials to further impress Jewish and communal issues. Pelman joined Senator Joseph P. Addabbo at Wasserman’s Supermarket in Kew Gardens Hills for a special visit, where together they greeted constituents while sharing Addabbo’s newsletter of updates, heard the concerns of shoppers, and distributed personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks and hand sanitizer.
“I am proud to stand with our great senator and stress the urgency and risks surrounding the pandemic as it still rages in our streets. I thank Mr. Shulem Brach and his team at Wasserman’s for opening their doors to us,” said Pelman. “I am equally proud of our community members for coming forward with their praises and troubles in the City of New York.”
Common points of interest for customers included the stresses that bail reform has inflicted, the potential of new COVID lockdowns, and other virus-related dialogue.
On Sunday afternoon, against the backdrop of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, Pelman met with New York Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards for an active discussion on long-term and short-term goals for Queens and how the attorney general can be of aide to the process.
“It is always an exciting experience to talk with our attorney general and borough president on the state of affairs in Queens and emphasize where we can expand our reach and be a positive influence for humanity,” noted Pelman.
