Completing Shas is by far the most meaningful accomplishment for an Orthodox Jewish man, most never get to achieve this lofty feat. The ease of learning Daf Yomi has given more individuals access to realize this milestone in Torah learning.

On Sunday afternoon, June 26, there was a palpable energy in the simchah hall of Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim on Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills as Reb Yisrael was set to be m’sayeim his sixth siyum on Talmud Bavli in front of well over 100 of his nearest and dearest friends and relatives. Making the siyum at the Yeshiva had an extra level of significance to Reb Yisrael, who keeps a seder limud in the Yeshiva’s beis midrash. The siyum marks 45 years that Reb Yisrael has dedicated himself to regular Daf Yomi study.

Notably in attendance was Rav Doniel Lander, Rosh HaYeshiva of Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim and Chancellor of Touro University; Rav Moshe Sokoloff, mara d’asra of the Agudath Israel of Kew Gardens Hills; and Reb Nochum Shmuel Hartman, the shul president.

May we all merit making siyumim and partaking in the noteworthy achievements of our peers.
