The incredible life story of former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin plays out in a captivating documentary film.

On Motza’ei Shabbos, February 18, the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills (YIKGH) will screen the movie Upheaval. Driven by a passion for his people, former Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin dedicated his life to the survival of his country and the Jewish people. Rarely seen archival materials and revealing interviews showcase Begin’s life in this compelling new documentary.

According to Ambassador Michael Oren, who is featured in the film, “Upheaval performs a vital and long-overdue service to Israel and the Jewish people – indeed to history itself – by finally profiling the man, the leader, and the visionary, Menachem Begin. Future generations will know him as few before could, highlighting his courage, convictions, complexities, and faith, thanks to this remarkable film.”

Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik, also featured in the film, stated, “Menachem Begin believed profoundly in the bond between Jews, like no one else; he bridged Ashkenazim and Sefardim, the Jewish past and the Jewish present, Israel and the Diaspora, the memory, love, and longing of the past, and the Zionism of the present. Every Jew can learn from his story, and to learn about him is to learn about ourselves.”

Mr. Phil Rosen, Executive Producer of the film, who was a personal friend of Menachem Begin, will address the Queens screening.

The presentation will begin at 8:00 p.m. There is a $15 per person fee for all attendees. For any questions, please contact the YIKGH office at 718-261-9723.
