Admit it. One of your peccadillos (okay, they’re mine) is to try to guess how much your future or present in-law (father, mother, brother, son, daughter, etc.) earns. Cha-ching, cha-ching! Well, New York City to the rescue! Most companies in New York City have to include salary ranges in job postings. Thanks to this rule, we can now save an inordinate amount of time guessing what someone makes.
Perhaps you would like to be a fish cutter at Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx. (All these salaries are based on “How Much Do These Jobs Pay?” The New York Times, November 12, 2022.) You might have trouble making ends meet on only $25 an hour. However, there is the “glamorous” anchor job on Channel 2 News. I guessed that, in addition to the wardrobe and makeup, the anchor made at least $500,000. Surprise! He or she makes only $230,000-$250,000 a year. True, you don’t have to be an Albert Einstein to read from the teleprompter, but I was still surprised by the “low” salary.
All of this money talk makes me wonder how much the Pope makes. He’s got the Vatican and a summer home, so I don’t know if he gets a weekly paycheck. The President of the United States makes only $400,000 a year, so I wonder how the First Lady affords all her beautiful outfits. How do all those politicians run for office and seemingly give up whatever jobs they held?
It’s only in the world of sports and Hollywood, where the salaries reach an ethereal level. I doubt whether many of the athletes who sign multi-year contracts can divide $190 million by 5 years. However, you might need to be an executive director of fixed-income trading at JPMorgan Chase’s Global Wealth Management Division – $142,500 to $300,000) to afford tickets to a Yankee game next year.

Compelling evidence has come out over the past two years that COVID-19 originated from a leak at a Wuhan lab that was funded by Dr. Fauci. Having him as our lead public health official for two-and-a-half years to set our public health policy in response to the mass casualty event he helped create is akin to having Kanye West set public policy agenda as the head of the Coalition for Jewish Values.
Public records revealed Dr. Fauci’s net worth throughout the COVID pandemic increased from $5 million to $12.6 million. When questioned under oath this past summer by Senator Rand Paul about Big Pharma royalties that he has received, Dr. Fauci refused to provide specifics. In his final press conference last week before stepping down as the White House’s chief medical advisor (to give more attention to his duties as Pfizer spokesman?), Dr. Fauci urged all Americans to stay current with their COVID booster shots. While Dr. Fauci and the CDC are recommending COVID boosters for everyone above age 12, most Americans have tuned out this nonsensical, anti-science, pro-Big Pharma message, as only four percent of Americans eligible for the booster have gotten it.
The larger question is whether Dr. Fauci himself believes what he is saying. Dr. Fauci was deposed last week regarding his role in our government’s collusion with social media companies to censor online COVID information. In the midst of the questioning, a court reporter suffering from allergies sneezed. Dr. Fauci, who has had COVID at least twice and likely been boosted five times, demanded the court reporter don a mask, claiming, “The last thing in the world I want is to get COVID.” From his absurd overreaction, it doesn’t appear that Dr. Fauci has much faith in the Pfizer boosters he has recommended for all of us.

The national debt has now reached $31.4 trillion. The debate will soon begin in Washington between the President and Congress about permitting our national debt to grow even more. What’s another trillion or two between friends?
President Biden and Congress should freeze overall spending. Any extension of the debt ceiling should be matched by corresponding real cuts in spending.
Implement “pay as you go” budgeting, means-testing for all government assistance, and sunset provisions for agencies and programs that have completed their missions. End pork-barrel member item spending, stop paying farmers to not grow crops, and abolish corporate welfare subsides via tax deductions.
Everyone needs to do his or her fair share in bringing the budget deficit under control. It is time for government to destroy its own credit cards.
How ironic that after winning the Cold War against the Evil Empire of Communism, it may be mismanagement of our economy that results in a decline of our standard of living. It may also end our reign as the world’s super power as we become the world super debtor nation.
It is time for President Biden and Congress to come together on a bipartisan basis and end this madness.

Dear Editor:
Possibly Warren Hecht can write about the benefits of the completely incompetent Biden administration now publicly issuing warnings to the Israeli Knesset about how they should and shouldn’t protect Jews.
A couple of weeks ago, when the Zionist Organization of America awarded President Trump with their highest honor, Mr. Trump pointed out how the big majority of American Jews care more about the Democratic Party than about Israel. Of course, there is nothing new with that. But last week, a prominent rav mentioned on TorahAnytime that more than half of Israel’s Knesset is now shomer Shabbos.
So, it’ll be interesting to see if the vast majority of Jewish Biden voters will be considering Zionism a bigger problem than their chronic case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
