You know what they say: “Everybody wants to change the world. But nobody wants to change the toilet paper roll.” How about you be the change? If you believe you can actually make a difference in this ole world, you will act differently. Instead of dreaming or overthinking, you will begin to take action. And that, my friends, is where the magic is. Mind your mind. What are you thinking right now, and is it helpful?

I know. There’s no problem so big or so complicated that it can’t be run away from. And it’s nearly impossible not to feel small sometimes, or truly incapable of fixing this broken universe. But, if you’re anything like me, you want to make the world a better place.

Do you even know what causes are important to you? Know what you are passionate about and, by all means, get connected to like-minded people. Your voice does make a difference. Just think of all those who are not free to speak up for themselves or are too afraid to. Don’t be timid. Conquer your shyness by believing in your flyness. You’d be surprised how simply sharing your ideas with one person can set off a chain reaction.

Remember: We are all guilty of the good we did not do. And let’s be honest: The world can surely use a group hug. In the grand scheme of things, you may feel infinitesimal, but believe it or not, you can have a huge impact just by your presence.

You will never truly know how your choices, words, or actions influence even generations to come. How can you? Sure, it would be nice if we could always get the majority on board with us when we wish to make those sweeping changes. But sometimes all you really need is one true believer – and that, my friend, can be you.

No one can singlehandedly move Everest. But who cannot argue that some action on your part is better than no action? Actions always prove that words mean nothing. Whatever it is you are doing at this very moment, ask yourself: Will it help people or will it hurt people in the long run. After failing to climb Mount Everest, a great man once said: “I will come again and conquer you. Because, as a mountain, you cannot grow. But as a human, I can.”

Are you fresh out of ideas? Here’s a few freebies. You’re welcome. Make a difference in yourself – for the better. Try smiling at strangers. Better yet, be the reason that someone smiles today. Let your smile change the world. Don’t let the world change your smile.

Make eye contact, unless someone just fell off his bike. Look into peoples’ eyes when they speak to you. Ask questions that show you are truly interested in them. “How are you doing?” Oh, and hang around to listen to their response. Your total attention is the highest compliment you can give someone. Yes, we all know it takes patience to listen; but it takes skill to pretend you’re listening. Tempting, but please don’t. Sometimes, instead of a good “talking to,” a person needs a good “listening to.”

You can’t feed all the starving people in the world; but you can feed one. I’m sure you also know someone whose last name is “hungry” and first name is “always.” You know who you are. Heh.

And remember: A good example is a heck of a lot more valuable than good advice. One vision and one voice can have one huge effect. Guess what? The “wave” at a baseball game started with one person, too. Speaking of which, you never know if you will make the home run, unless you swing.

The universe needs you and your uniqueness. So remember to always act as if every little thing you do makes a difference. Because it does. You are not an insignificant thread in the tapestry of life, sweet friends. You can have a powerful imprint simply by inspiring others to try to effect change as well.

Think back. Do you remember anyone who may have had an impact on your life? Perhaps they do not even know it to this very day.

It was once said: “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” So wake up, beauty – it’s time to beast.
