After weeks of preparation and excitement, Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s participating 7th graders had the special opportunity they had been eagerly waiting for. The boys were zocheh to interview and film five different Holocaust survivors with plans to create a documentary that highlights their experiences, thoughts, and feelings about their lives, both before and after the Holocaust. The documentary will be archived in Yad Vashem and other Holocaust museums and used as an invaluable resource for future generations who want to hear the first-hand accounts from the people who went through it.
It was so special to hear how, despite the tragedies they faced, they had the resilience and fortitude to come to America and rebuild. It was awe-inspiring to hear their candid thoughts about their emunah in Hashem and their will to survive. There were many takeaway messages for the boys, but chiefly among them was the appreciation for life and not to take anything for granted. We look forward to showing the parent body the finished documentary at a date to be announced, and are we proud of the amazing work that the boys have done to this point!
