Dear Senator Schumer:

Like our ancestor Joseph in Biblical Egypt, you have been blessed with reaching a position of political prominence in this country, unsurpassed by countless others. This should give you reason to emulate Joseph and act with the best interests of your country and your people in mind. Most other politicians in powerful positions are unabashed in their support of their ethnic brethren. We would like to have seen the same from you and perhaps Congressman Nadler.

Please remember that we are all mortal. When you will ultimately face your Maker, as we all will, G-d will not be impressed with what you have done for the Democratic Party. It will count for nothing in the Eternal World. What will count is your answer to the questions: “What have you done to truly benefit your country? What have you done to defend your Jewish People?”

Have you been outspoken in favor of Israel? Did you openly condemn the notorious haters of Israel and Jews now rising in the Democratic Party? Did you shed a tear for your Jewish brethren, the subject of newfound hatred coming from elected Muslims and others in your party, as you did for Muslims banned by President Trump?

I’m wondering how you would answer those questions. You should think about them, too. Eventually you will need good answers. Our hope is that you will rise to become another Joseph in our critical time of need.

May you indeed become worthy of the title “The Shomer Yisrael.”
