Mazal tov to Hannah Lewin, Talia Loskove, Molly Sigman, Isabella Weisfeld, and Arielle Yarmish – 12th Graders at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls, who were honored with the Yedid Yesha award on Tuesday evening, December 29, at One Israel Fund’s virtual event.

We love learning Parshah at HANC ECC! In Parshas VaYigash, we learned that Serach bas Asher serenaded Yaakov with her harp when he was sad about Yosef. Some of the classes crafted their own harps to make the parshah come alive.

For the first time in two years, there was a snow day for the students and staff at the Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ). On Thursday, December 17, the sixth day of Chanukah, the children of the New York area enjoyed a snow day. For the students of YCQ, this was not an ordinary snow day that was spent away from school and school activities.

The Chanukah Dreidel-thon at IVDU LI was a smashing success as the first annual, student-oriented fundraiser. The Dreidelthon campaign intentionally coincided with the greater IVDU/Yachad Up-reaching day, the annual day of giving that benefits the greater organization. The IVDU schools provide a whole-child approach to special education in a warm and supportive yet professional environment.

At its North Woodmere location, IVDU LI students all got involved in the fundraising campaign. Dr. Sara Seplowitz, School Principal, developed this year’s campaign in an effort to involve every student. “The fundraising effort is a hands-on and fun way to help our students learn how to help their school.”

Students had the opportunity to participate in fun dreidel games and competitions, collect sponsorships from friends and family, and earn fun prizes at all donation levels. Prizes were also selected carefully to provide both something exciting for the child in addition to something to benefit the whole class or classroom. At IVDU LI, everyone is truly a winner!
