This past week, hundreds of people from the United States came to Eretz Yisrael for Agudah’s annual Yarchei Kallah in Yerushalayim. Among them, came a notable group from the Queens community that brought Rabbi Ilan Meirov, the director of the Chazaq organization, to join them on their three-day journey.

TorahFest 2020 took place on Sunday, February 9, as Boys Campus marked great milestones in talmud Torah together. Kittah Alef received their first Hummashim, Kittah Gimmel received their first Mishnayot, and Kittah Hey received their first Gemarot.

Taking a break from regular morning seder, Yeshiva Toras Halachah hosted its bi-annual Yarchei Kallah on Monday, February 17, Presidents’ Day. Talmidim, alumni, and the Kew Gardens Hills community joined for a special morning of learning and brunch in their beis midrash at 70-03 147^th Street. Great Neck, the Five Towns, and Queens were all well represented at the event.

On Sunday, February 16, the MTA Robotics Teams, Lionotics and Lionotics 2, participated in their third competition of the year at the FIRST Tech Super Regionals. The teams worked hard over the past few months to create the best possible robots, using MTA’s state-of-the-art STEM Lab, which has a dedicated room for the robotics teams with specialized tools and equipment.

Congratulations to Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls Junior Priva Halpert on winning third place in Chemistry in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium held at York College on Sunday, February 9.

The students of the Bais Yaakov Academy of Queens are hard at work with creative, thoughtful, and meaningful projects in literacy! The second graders are working hard to create their second book of the year. This book is based on a science unit on animals. The girls studied and researched different animals while learning a new medium for illustration. In their books, they are using their research skills and displaying a special technique called collage. This technique was used by well-known author Eric Carle. The girls are having a wonderful time while they expand their writing horizons!
