After months of speculation, guesswork, and predictions, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially entered the race to become the Republican nominee for President in 2024. While DeSantis is still an underdog against former President Trump, he is far and away the only challenger, either declared or undeclared, that has a chance to get the nomination in the primary. For all intents and purposes, this is a two-man race between Trump and DeSantis, with all other contenders merely trailing and taking votes away from one or the other. Since they are competing for a job with us, the Republican Primary voter as the hiring manager, let’s compare resumes.

Correction: In last week’s article about the resignation of Daniel Rosenthal, I claimed that Rosenthal was the only Orthodox Jew to endorse Kathy Hochul for Governor. Democratic Assemblyman David Weprin also endorsed Hochul. He was also the sponsor of the Religious Protection Act. I apologize for the error.

Of all the political platitudes that have been thrown around by people defending their own actions or attacking their opponents, the greatest lie of them all is “No one is above the law.” There are literally dozens of cities and several states that put a lot of effort into ensuring that there are plenty of people who are above the law. The nation as a whole has long accepted the fact that there are high-level politicians who are above the law. So, when the Biden DOJ emulates Peruvian communists from a century ago, claiming that “for my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law,” we have entered banana republic tyranny.

Dear Editor:

I am deeply disturbed by the Federal Highway Administration’s blanket approval of the Central Business District Tolling Program, also known as Congestion Pricing. New Yorkers cannot afford this $1 billion tax hike, which is being camouflaged as investment in the MTA – an unaccountable and untrustworthy steward of the public’s funds.

In the most disgusting and divisive move by a high-ranking elected official since Nancy Pelosi ripped up the State of the Union address, President Joe Biden draped the Pride Progress flag on the White House between two American flags during an event. Aside from the violations of the US Flag Code, the symbolism couldn’t be more direct: Pride has overcome and is now dividing America.

In a move that could impact historic pizzerias across the city, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has proposed new rules targeting coal-and-wood-fired ovens, seeking to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75 percent. This is just the latest in a long line of useless gestures made by bureaucratic activists based on fake science.
