The Randor Road schoolyard at PS 178 the Holliswood school was the scene of a unity simchas beis hashoeva that brought out all walks of Jewish like from the Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates, Holliswood, and Hollis Hills communities. The program was highlighted by the musical talents of Mendy Shapiro with a deejay accompaniment.
Showcased by dancing befitting the yom tov spirit, kid-friendly activities included an inflated rock, climbing wall, inflatable obstacle course, sporting games, several moon bounces for varied ages, and an exciting train ride.
The event was once again provided free to the community with thanks, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council and local Council Members James F. Gennaro, and Linda Lee.
Unique to the festivities was the elements of achdus, bridging all sects of the Jewish community through the promotional efforts of area shuls and institutions led by Rabbi Yerachmiel and Rebbetzin Chanie Zalmanov, sheluchim at Chabad Lubavitch of Eastern Queens in Hollis Hills, their CTeen program, and their summer camp Camp Gan Israel, with the participation of Queens Jewish Queens Jewish Community, Chazaq, CTeen, Cong. Anshei Shalom, Cong. Bais Yitzchok “The Shteibel,” Kehilat Bet El, Beit Nissim of Holliswood, Bukharian Community Center of Jamaica Estates, House of Torah, Shaarei Shlomo, Shuva Yisrael, and the vibrant Young Israels of Holliswood and Jamaica Estates.
