The eighth grade at Bnos Malka Academy has embarked on a meaningful and inspirational journey this year. The students are working with Names, Not Numbers©: an interactive, multi-media Holocaust project created by educator Tova Fish-Rosenberg. During the course of the year, the students will learn the skills to interview, video, and create a documentary detailing the life of a Holocaust survivor.
The Names, Not Numbers© Program is generously supported by a prominent national foundation. Most recently, the girls participated in a workshop run by noted journalist, Mr. Jeff Salgo, to learn interview techniques necessary to create their documentary.
The morning began with Rabbi Weichselbaum, the Menahel, introducing Mr. Salgo to the students. Mr. Salgo then addressed the students through Zoom, giving them pointers on the best way to listen and connect with their interviewee.
Mrs. Tova Fish-Rosenberg then shared additional details preparing students for the upcoming interviews. The students are armed with the tools to create an incredible documentary, perpetuating the lives of the survivors.
