On Tuesday, a drawing of hate against the Jewish community was sketched with a marker on a door at Hillcrest High School. The depiction has since been removed, and the incident remains under investigation by the detective squad of the NYPD’s 107th Precinct.
This unfortunate incident comes less than two weeks after Council Member James Gennaro brought The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s “Combat Digital Hate” program to the besmirched Queens high school, which forever tarnished its reputation after a November riot in its halls which targeted a Jewish teacher who had attended a pro-Israel rally.
The landmark initiative, funded by New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams aims to foster education on the legacy of the Holocaust, combating anti-Semitism, and various types of bias and hate. The program at Hillcrest High School consisted of three sessions, which kicked-off on February 7 and concluded February 28.
