Israel’s Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau, seated, addressed, and responded to topical questions from representatives of the Great Neck community at the invitation of Chabad of Great Neck’s Rabbi Yossi and Chani Geisinsky on Thursday evening, November 3. During the day, the Chief Rabbi, escorted by Rabbi Tenenboim of the Chabad of Hewlett, visited Chabad’s Silverstein Hebrew Academy, SHA. Rabbi Lau was joined by Ariel Elmaliach, mayor of Eli in the Shomron; Dr. Pedram Bral, mayor of the Village of Great Neck; Dr. Paul Brody, Great Neck activist; and Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Geisinsky of the Chabad of Great Neck in his private study.

Chazaq’s life-changing work is known throughout the Jewish community. Thousands of people from all backgrounds are inspired by their events and lectures each year since their inception in 2006. As most of us know, Chazaq’s main goal and mission is to educate and inspire Jewish public school students in the Queens Community and beyond.

Recently, Project Lead held an exciting Women’s Empowerment Luncheon for young professionals from the Bukharian Jewish community at Prestige Glatt Kosher Restaurant in Rego Park. Over 140 women participated in the event, which was a reunion for all of the attendees who had been involved during their high school years in weekend retreats, trips to Hershey Park, leadership training activities, and much more.

The NYPD Shomrim Society hosted the 97^th Annual Louis Weiser Memorial Service Scholarship and Awards Presentation on Sunday, October 23. The celebration served as an opportunity for solemn reflection, as the NYPD Shomrim Society honored the memory of extraordinary people by recognizing the unparalleled work of some of the most impressive leaders in law enforcement.

The Talmud teaches: “Welcoming guests is greater than welcoming the presence of the Sh’chinah” (Shabbos 127).

In Parshas VaYeira, Avraham sat at the opening of his tent in the extreme temperatures while recovering from his bris milah to look for guests so that he can do chesed. Avraham Avinu sees three men in the distance, and he ran out to greet them. The Midrash Rabbah explains that these three men were actually angels sent by Hashem to each carry out one mission.
