Dear Editor:

I disagree with Moshe Hill on many things, but I think he’s smart and a mentch. Last week, I agreed with him. Except for one thing.

The pro-Palestinian protests are wrong. The protesters are going about it all wrong. However, I think the police and the system are correct to not lock them up. Why? Because it’s exactly what the protesters want. Once they’re in American jail, they’re martyrs for their cause. That gets them publicity that they do not deserve. We shouldn’t be playing their game.

I’m not sure if it’s legally feasible, but I think we should consider sending these protesters to Gaza. Let them protest there and see what martyrdom is. Maybe it will open their eyes and they’ll see the truth.

 Sincerely,
Meira Schneider-Atik

Dear Editor:

Great letter in last week’s issue by Jason Stark in dissecting piece by piece how Joe Biden has completely undermined our democracy while perpetuating the lie that he is the only one to save it. It is amazing, though, that nearly half the country believes that a decrepit, senile, doddering old fool with historically low approval ratings, who has approximately zero chance of serving out his second term, is the only one who can save our democracy. If Biden truly cared at all about democracy, he would insist that no one should be striking his probable opponent from the ballot.

Regarding Doniel Behar’s letter on our government’s failed response to Covid, I am appalled that no one is being held to account for any of the many missteps. Dr. Fauci should be in jail for unleashing the virus from his lab in Wuhan. But a major point that has fallen by the wayside is the timeline of the failed vaccine mandate. When the Covid vaccine was introduced at the beginning of 2021, it was promoted as the cure-all. You get the shot and it’s game over – you are protected and you cannot pass the virus to anyone else. By mid-summer 2021, two key points of information were well known to all:

1) The vaccines were at best, only providing protection for a few months.

2) Those dying from Covid were largely old and/or very sick people.

Neither of these facts were in dispute by mid-2021. Armed with this information, Joe Biden decided to institute a workplace vaccine mandate affecting 100 million workers in the United States. Putting aside the tyrannical, Anti-democratic overreach, putting aside “my body, my choice,” and putting aside Biden’s promise of a “winter of severe death and illness for the unvaccinated,” how morally repugnant can one man be the push the workplace mandate of an experimental vaccine on 100 million people?! This is not a political argument here. This is a common sense one. If Biden was so worried about Americans dying from Covid, why would he institute a workplace mandate? If you are in a workplace, you are very likely not severely unhealthy or old! If he were truly concerned about the health of Americans, tying Social Security checks to vaccination would make a lot more sense.

I agree with Mr. Behar’s conclusion: When one examines the fact patterns objectively, the only conclusion that can be reached is that this is all about governmental control over our lives.

Dear Editor:

The Gemara (Tamid 32a) asks: “Eizehu chacham? Ha’roeh es ha’nolad?” Who is wise? One who sees the consequences. Rashi explains this to mean “one who understands what will happen in the future and guards himself against that.” The problem with well-intentioned Democrats who are considered by mainstream media to be the intellectual superiors of their Republican/MAGA counterparts is that their ideas are seldomly thought through to their logical conclusion.

There are so many instances of Democrats committing egregiously stupid acts either due to their naivete or just a complete lack of foresight.

While campaigning for President in 2019, Joe Biden promised to pick a black woman to be his running mate. (Why anyone, let alone the future President, would be dumb enough to make an important decision based on a candidate’s skin color and gender instead of intellect and competence is beyond the scope of this letter as well as my comprehension.) Having boxed himself in with his next-level pandering, the only viable candidates at the time were Stacey Abrams and Kamala Harris. Abrams was an election denier, so tag-teaming with her would foreclose Biden’s main attack on Trump. That left only Kamala Harris. Despite her unpopularity with voters and being terrible at the game of politics, Biden was forced by his promise and lack of foresight to pick the one person in politics who might be denser than he is.

Joe Biden desperately wanted to be the hero of the 20-year Afghanistan War by bringing an end to the entire affair. He wanted it so badly, despite the fact that at the time of withdrawal, America had only a minimal occupying presence there and the region was fairly stable. He needed the political win and the accompanying photo op. Biden’s lack of foresight here led to 13 dead servicemen, Afghans falling off of planes, and the Taliban overrunning the Afghan allies, while taking control of $85 billion of American military equipment, all within one week of his ill-fated withdrawal.

Mayor Eric Adams, in his infinite wisdom, unilaterally decided that New York City should be a sanctuary city. He publicly welcomed all illegal immigrants into New York City. All logic and common sense must be suspended to understand why the mayor of a nearly broke city would make this offer. Adams’ rollout of his welcoming mat lasted until 65,000 illegal immigrants took him up on his generous offer. To pay for the hundreds of millions of dollars it costs to house and feed the illegal immigrants, the mayor has now promised that service cuts will be coming soon to all the legal citizens of this once great city that were dumb enough to vote this dimwit into office. Adams didn’t waste much time making good on this promise, as students from James Madison High School were sent home last week so the building could be used to house illegal immigrants.

The words of our Sages are timeless. Perhaps contemplating them when deciding who to vote for, in the next election cycle, would be wise.

Dear Editor:

Let’s face it. Queens is known for its restaurants, pharmacies, and supermarkets, but it’s not known for its hospitals. As a matter of fact, when my husband a”h was rushed to Queens General, the EMT apologized to me. (Truth be told, he got excellent care there.) Therefore, I see any doctor whose title ends in “ologist” at Cornell Weill in Manhattan.

Were I to describe this hospital, besides it being an excellent medical facility, it’s very genteel and gentile. As a matter of fact, with the exception of one doctor, the rest are not Jewish. In the waiting room, I sat next to a woman whose hair matched her camel boots, scarf, and coat. Everyone behind the counter smiles and speaks in a low voice. The only time that they raise their voice is when they are repeating your birthdate, and it sounds like they are using a megaphone to announce it to all the assembled patients.

When you get into the examination room, they ask you to remove your shoes, which can be a blessing when they take your weight, but the opposite when they take your height. When they do the former, you remind the nurse to deduct one pound for the winter clothes. She rolls her eyes, agrees to the request and writes down the higher number. (Darn those cookies for breakfast.)

My humble suggestion is that instead of stress tests, CAT scans, and balance questions, all the aforementioned doctors should line up in the nearest subway station and observe the patient running up or down the 50 steps to catch the E train, especially if he is being chased by 100 people who believe it’s the last train out of Dodge. The neurologist, instead of asking you the name of the president, can ask you the names of the Queens stations on the E and F lines leading to Forest Hills. In addition, he can ask you where the Q train goes to. (I have no idea.)

If my suggestions are taken seriously, your insurance company will thank you.

Dear Editor:

One only needs to objectively look at the current state of the country to see that when the Democratic Party has control, the entire country suffers terribly. Domestically, anti-Semitism and crime in general is out of control. The left runs academia and most major cities in this country. Kids, who’ve already suffered under the Covid lockdowns, are now being forced out of their schools and to learn remotely so illegals can shelter in their schools! We have over five million illegals who have come into the country since January 20, 2021! While the House of Representatives might be successful in impeaching DHS Secretary Mayorkas, our disappointing Senator Chuck Schumer will not have him removed from his position.

You have a DOJ who is going after individuals who merely walked to the Capitol building on January 6 and are being hunted down like dogs to be prosecuted and thrown in prison! President Trump is correct for calling them hostages. Like his indictments, these are all political prosecutions to demonstrate power, not justice. The prosecutor in Atlanta has now been exposed as visiting the White House prior to bringing these frivolous charges against the former President. You are allowed to challenge an election. Further, the man she picked to lead the prosecution has taken her on lavish trips paid for by the Atlanta taxpayers, and she’s having an affair with him.

Our foreign policy has set the world ablaze! After withdrawing from Afghanistan and letting 13 of our troops be murdered, Russia saw its opportunity to attack Ukraine. The appeasement of Iran led to Hamas’ attack on Israel. Now, the Houthi fighters in Yemen are attacking container ships in international waters. This could very well be a green light for China to invade Taiwan. This administration has removed sanctions against Iran and Venezuela, and their oil is back on the open market. It’s why the price of oil and gas is dropping in time for the upcoming election. Let us also not forget this repeated two-state solution nonsense.

Finally, anyone who had relatives in the Holocaust, whether they were murdered or survived, should be outraged that the Democratic Party and their surrogates on MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, and ABC call President Trump “Hitler.” It’s insulting and frankly should make every Jew angry. Mr. Hecht’s faux outrage aside, nothing President Trump did in his four years as president has come remotely close to the constitutional violations of President Biden, let alone the brutal murder of anyone. It’s disgusting and this alone should sink Joe Biden and all Democrats in 2024.

Dear Editor:

This letter is regarding Larry Penner’s recent letter to the editor entitled “Reparations Are Not Kosher.” Penner’s spectacular ignorance and hypocrisy never cease to amaze me.

I agree with the author as to the impracticality of reparations. However, his attitude toward the Black Holocaust reminds me of the married man or woman caught at adultery who wants to work on the marriage but has an utterly cavalier attitude toward adultery: “Just get over it.” Mr. Penner should watch the movie “Mississippi Burning.” Mr. Penner grew up in the 1960s in an affluent suburb. I wonder what his attitude would be if he had grown up in Harlem or the South Bronx?

Yet at the same time, Mr. Penner feels everything is hunky dory for Blacks. He does not hesitate to advocate for Holocaust education in all our schools. Mr. Penner’s attitude is crystal clear: Let’s forget about what happened to Blacks but never forget about what happened to the Jews.

Dear Editor:

Migrants being transferred overnight from the Floyd Bennett Field shelter to Madison High School due to poor weather conditions should come as no surprise to anyone. Everyone already knew that the temporary shelter built at Floyd Bennett Field was not designed to deal with inclement weather, storms, and cold winters. Both children and adults living at this and other shelters have never been fully screened, tested, and vaccinated as citizens are. Who pays for transportation of migrants back and forth, along with cleaning the school?

Never shy around a microphone or camera, 1967 Madison High graduate and Senate Majority leader Charles Schumer is nowhere to be found. He has never visited the border, Floyd Bennett Field, or his alma matter to see firsthand how President Biden’s open border policy is destroying our nation. Schumer abandoned his old Madison, Brooklyn, neighborhood long ago. He has forgotten his old neighborhood roots for the bright lights of Washington elites.

 Sincerely,
Larry Penner
