On Monday, UJA-Federation of New York held an evening of grief, resilience, community, and hope in Central Park. Elected officials and thousands others joined JCRC-NY and BringHomeNow, alongside Temple Emanu-El, for the event, which was presented in person and online. The large event was one of many memorials all across New York that commemorated the horrors of October 7.

On the evening of the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks on Israel, a powerful and solemn commemoration event took place at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater in Eisenhower Park. Hosted by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in partnership with the Long Island Jewish Coalition, the gathering brought together leaders, community members, and survivors to remember those who lost their lives, and to reinforce a collective resolve to stand with Israel in the face of terror.

Psalms 113-118 constitute the Hallel (Praise). These psalms focus on Hashem’s saving power and are used during Pesacj, Shavuos, Sukkos, and Chanukah to praise Him for various aspects of His saving power.
