Every veteran deserves our praise for answering the call to protect the freedoms that make this country so wonderful. Last Monday, November 11, Veterans Day, patriotic tunes lit up the faces of residents at Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, led by opera and classical singer Ricardo Rosa Sola, Director of Recreation. Sola, who has been singing for over 25 years, is a Compassionate Activity Professional who motivates those he engages with by positively impacting program operations and has a record of resident successes due to his signature diligent support. A few dozen gathered with heartfelt American pride as the classic tunes radiated.

This year’s Yeshiva University Open Houses were a huge success as high school juniors and seniors, accompanied by their parents, got a feel for the dynamic undergraduate experience that the flagship Jewish university has to offer. Students got the opportunity to meet professors and future classmates and learned about the various market-ready majors and degree programs that will be open to them as undergraduates at YU.

Our Sages say that the Jewish wife/mother is the sole source of blessing in the home (Bava M’tzia 59a). While every member of the family has his or her unique role and responsibility, it is the Jewish wife/mother who has the power not only to frame what is happening but also to write the script. She sets the tone in the home. Who her family will become is, to a large extent, dependent on who she is, what she knows, and where she is going. This is a woman’s strength and the key to shalom bayis.
