Fresh Meadows for PASSOVER 2025?
With the coming of Passover comes a lot of cleaning and hard work which can translate into all sorts of musculoskeletal aches and pains! Here at the Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders we are trying our best to stay on top of current techniques to better serve you! Here are some of the news flashes as of late!
Drs. Lewin , Vora and Isaac Abramchayev continue to blaze ahead with the use of navigational and robotic technologies and have recently trialed some additional technologies from Israel which can also help in reducing the amount of radiation that the patient is exposed to during robotic and navigational procedures. “ We are thrilled that spine surgery is becoming less and less daunting as time goes on. Massive incisions in the past have been significantly reduced as well as the muscle stripping necessary to achieve good results. Spine surgery gets less scary every day.”
In the foot and ankle division, Drs. Popowitz and Saraf continue to make strides in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery. In particular, minimally invasive bunion surgery has really expanded in their practice. Using a combination of implants including Ossio an Israeli manufacturer, incisions have been reduced in size and the scope of muscle dissection of the surgery has been significantly minimized. This has led to better patient recoveries and better patient outcomes without compromising the aesthetic result. Dr. Popowitz notes “we really are amazed at some of these results. The recoveries are shorter and we are seeing happier patients early on with dramatic reduction in pain as well as of course the aesthetic result of a more normally shaped toe and foot.
Dr. Horowitz and Simhaee have been focusing on spinal pathologies including cervical and lumbar discal pathologies as well as pains of the elbows and knees and shoulders with the judicious use of combination of lidocaine, steroids as well as regenerative medicine technologies and PRP when appropriate. People have been mobilized and treated often after years of pain with only one to several injections. Says Dr. Horowitz and Simhaee “ we are happy we have been able to impact people and get them doing more of their activities of daily living including sport with the use of our targeted injection technologies.”
Dr Don Heitman continues to master sports injuries of the shoulder and knee. For some time and particularly to the shoulder , he continues to perfect all inside repairs as well as strong double triple or quadruple knot for rotator cuff and other pathologies all with minimally invasive poke like incisions.
Dr. Michael Horowitz of hand surgery continues to bring to the forefront minimally invasive fracture care with casting or surgery when necessary as well as his small technique carpal tunnel surgery with an outstandingly fast recovery !
In summary there are a lot of good things happening and there is less and less reason for you to be in pain and discomfort !
