Despite heavy rain, the West Hempstead Jewish community turned out in full force on July 8 for a successful Taste of Israel BBQ event, raising $60,000 for the critical work of One Israel Fund. Over 175 attendees gathered at the home of Alan and Sharon Shulman, who once again generously opened their home for this annual tradition.

The evening featured fine Israeli wines, specialty cocktails, and gourmet cuisine, but the real focus was on Israel’s security and the communities of Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley. Guests heard from Rachel Pill, local resident and President of the One Israel Fund Women’s Division, as well as from Scott M. Feltman, Executive Vice President, and Yochai Provisor, Director of Security Projects, who shared updates on the urgent need for enhanced security infrastructure in the region.

One Israel Fund is currently rallying support for the purchase of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), a $26,000 investment per vehicle, to intercept infiltrations and terrorist threats before they reach Israel’s communities. The funds raised at the event bring this life-saving goal closer to reality.

“This event was a true testament to West Hempstead’s unwavering connection to Israel’s Heartland,” said Feltman. “We are deeply grateful to our hosts, vendors, sponsors, and attendees who made the night unforgettable.”
