Parshas Eikev reminds us that even the “small” mitzvos — the ones we might tend to tread upon — are beloved by Hashem. The Torah promises us incredible brachos when we guard them with care: “V’haya eikev tishme’un…”
Chazal teach that Hashem treasures every act of avodas Hashem — no matter how small it may seem to us. Just as a seed planted quietly in the ground can grow into a mighty tree, so too, each small mitzvah and tefilah has the power to bear fruit in ways we can’t yet imagine.
In these days after Tishah B’Av, when we are working to rebuild ourselves and Klal Yisrael through our tefillos, chesed, and mitzvos, this message is especially powerful. Sometimes it’s the quiet acts - the heartfelt “Amen,” the small chizuk to a friend, the few extra minutes of Tehillim - that tip the scale in Shamayim.
May we take to heart the lesson of Eikev: that nothing we do for Hashem is ever wasted. And may our small acts and heartfelt tefillos join together to bring yeshuos and nechamos for ourselves, our families, and all of Klal Yisrael, b’karov mamash.
