Parshas Re’eh begins with the words: “Re’eh anochi nosein lifneichem hayom brachah uklalah,” “See, I place before you today a brachah and a klalah.”

The Torah teaches us that Hashem places before every Yid the ability to choose the path of brachah. The brachah comes through listening to the mitzvos of Hashem and following His ratzon. Every day, a person is given new opportunities to make the right choices, strengthen his emunah, and bring more kedushah into the world.

The word “Re’eh” is written in the singular, while “lifneichem” is written in the plural. The meforshim explain that, although the Torah is speaking to all of Klal Yisrael, each individual Yid must personally see and recognize the choices that Hashem places before him. Every mitzvah and every good decision has tremendous value.

Parshas Re’eh also teaches us about the great mitzvah of tzedakah. The Torah tells us: “Lo se’ametz es levavcha velo sikpotz es yadcha,” not to harden our hearts and not to close our hands to a fellow Yid in need. Instead, “Paso’ach tiftach es yadcha,” we must open our hands and give generously.

The pasuk promises: “Ki biglal hadavar hazeh yevarechecha Hashem Elokecha b’chol ma’asecha u’vchol mishlach yadecha.” In the zechus of giving tzedakah, Hashem will bentch us in all our work and in everything to which we turn our hands.

The parsha also speaks about serving Hashem with simchah. Even when a person is going through a difficult or uncertain time, he can strengthen himself with the knowledge that Hashem is always near and that every sincere tefillah is precious.

This is also the special koach of Tehillim. Dovid HaMelech gives us the words to cry out to Hashem, strengthen our emunah, and ask for refuah, yeshuah, brachah, and protection. No tefillah is ever wasted, and no Yid is ever alone.

May our Tehillim and tefillos bring refuos, yeshuos, brachos, and protection for all of Klal Yisrael. May Hashem guard all of our chayalim, comfort those who are suffering, and send the ultimate yeshuah with the coming of Mashiach and the rebuilding of the Beis Hamikdash, bimheirah b’yameinu, amen.
