This past Sunday, November 15, the Chazaq Organization held an enormously successful face-covering distribution in front of Rosenblum’s Supermarket on Lefferts Boulevard in Kew Gardens. Evelin Baron, a longtime community resident and activist, reached out to Chazaq’s CEO, Rabbi Yaniv Meirov, at a previous mask distribution, encouraging a similar program for her community.
“It was remarkable to see so many friends, community leaders, and neighbors come out from all parts of the Kew Gardens community to show their support for this drive. I thank Mrs. Baron for personally taking an active role in the planning and organization of the event,” stated Robbie Aboff, Chazaq’s events coordinator.
The ZIP Code of 11415 was originally labeled by the New York City government as the Central Queens area suffering from a COVID-19 uptick. When the zone maps were eventually released by the state, the neighborhood of Kew Gardens fell into a yellow zone.
