The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 2,500 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in American public policy, this week welcomed news that the White House had ended its partnership with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in its national anti-Semitism strategy, in the wake of virulently anti-Semitic statements by CAIR’s Executive Director Nihad Awad. CJV had requested that CAIR be removed from partnership in the national strategy as soon as it was announced, observing that “CAIR has incited anti-Semitism since its inception.”

CJV Vice President Rabbi Dov Fischer made the following statement:

The recent comments by Awad surprise no one who has been listening. We have warned for years that CAIR’s agenda is not the promotion of Islam but support for terrorism and hatred of Jews. We called it “alarming” that the White House cited their “partnership” with this anti-Semitic organization in, of all things, combating anti-Semitism. Now, at least, because the White House has officially dropped and delisted CAIR, it is an American government-certified anti-Semitic hate group. No one working with CAIR, yet claiming to oppose hate, should be taken seriously, if it were ever otherwise.
