Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s Early Childhood Program is filled with excitement and meaning during these weeks of S’firas HaOmer. As we count the days from Pesach to Shavuos, our youngest talmidim are diligently working on refining their midos in preparation for Kabbalas HaTorah.

Each week, the four Early Childhood classes are introduced to a new lesson from Pirkei Avos, thoughtfully adapted to an age-appropriate, practical focus. These sessions are designed to give our boys concrete ways to internalize Torah values and apply them to their daily interactions. The goal is to lay a solid foundation for many years of learning, growth, and leadership.

This week’s focus was the vital midah of dan l’chaf z’chus – giving others the benefit of the doubt. The moros guided the boys in discussing situations where things might not be as they seem and encouraged them to think of positive possibilities before making judgments.

The morah gave relatable examples, and the boys enthusiastically brainstormed different ways to see the good in others. To bring the concept even more to life, the classes read the story I Can Be Dan L’Chaf Z’chus from the “Midos Train” series by Sara Blau. Each child was given an imaginary magnifying glass, reminding him to “look closer” and search for the positive in every situation.

At YTM, leadership begins with midos tovos, and there is no better time to strengthen these qualities than during the elevated days leading up to Matan Torah.
