Last Shabbos, Rambam students gathered in West Hempstead for the annual tish hosted by Rambam Principal Dr. Hillel Goldman and organized by Director of Student Activities Reb Yitz Milworn. Students from other communities stayed with friends, while West Hempstead students and their families opened their homes to classmates for meals and sleeping arrangements.
On Friday night, students and teachers packed into Dr. Goldman’s house for snacks, z’miros, and divrei Torah shared by students from different grades. Dr. Goldman ended the evening by serving Mrs. Goldman’s iconic “Mad Phat Cholent,” continuing a long-running Rambam tradition.
Rabbi Ilan Schimmel, Rambam rebbi and Director of Israel Guidance, also represented Rambam over Shabbos, speaking to the Young Israel of West Hempstead Teen Minyan. We thank him for sharing divrei Torah with the teens on behalf of the school.
On Shabbos afternoon, everyone gathered again for shalosh seudos, with more food, z’miros, and divrei Torah. Senior Jake Bench led a musical Havdalah to close out the Shabbos.
A special thank you goes to Reb Yitz Milworn for his work arranging the Shabbos and bringing students and teachers together.
