One of the staples of the Central experience is our Schoolwide Shabbaton. While we are still hopeful for the world to take a turn, and to gather again in a hotel one day soon, we did not let COVID-19 stop our fun and happiness with Adar rolling in: MiSheNichnas Adar, marbim b’simchah!
Central had a blast spending Erev Shabbos together at the Rosh Chodesh Adar “Simchaton” last Friday! Everyone came to school dressed in their Simchaton Sweatshirt, enjoyed a Shabbos drashah by Rabbi Josh Goller, tried to crack the “Parshah Emoji” codes with Rabbi Elie Weissman, and enjoyed yummy rugelach with their Grade Deans and friends.
Each grade rotated through the “Simchah Shuffle,” experiencing each aspect of the Simchaton together as a grade. The first stop on the shuffle was a multimedia learning session about happiness, created and led by Mrs. Hadassah Frankel, and “teacher schmoozes” given by Mrs. Chani Cooper, Rabbi Josh Goller, Mrs. Audi Hecht, Rabbi Zvi Lew, and Rabbi Joshua Strulowitz.
Students then moved into the cafe for a meaningful chesed project with Yachad Ivdu, packing mishloach manos for Chai Lifeline, led by Mrs. Rebecca Teper, and a fun and interactive Minute-To-Win-It game, run by the G.O. members!
The activities continued into smaller groups for a challenging and team-building “Escape the Hotel Room,” where students gathered clues from Ms. Leah Moskovich and spent one hour trying to escape their locked hotel room in time for Shabbos! The festivities ended with a Shabbaton favorite: a DJ “Melaveh Malkah-Chagigah” with Azamra DJ!
Students and faculty left with potato kugel in hand and with big smiles on their faces – the perfect way to enter the month of Adar.
