YSZ had the great z'chut of greeting HaRav HaGaon Nissim Ben Shimon Shlit"a recently. He is a renowned talmid chacham, mekubal, Rosh Av Bet Din of Tel Aviv, and member of the Moetzet Chachmei Torah.

Young, vibrant voices of our talmidim singing could be heard as the Rav entered the building and walked through the hallways. The Rav gave words of brachah and advice as he visited the Bet Midrash and classrooms.

In blessing our students, the Rav gave encouragement and sage advice: One should never give up on learning just because he sees his friend is better than him. Often, the ones who struggle rise above others who have it easy. Torah is sweet when we understand it. If it is not sweet, then we must not have understood and need to try again. Listening to one's parents is a way to get brachah in learning and in life. Regarding friends, we must be careful of friends who can have a bad influence on us. We might think that bad friends won't change us, but we must be careful because slowly they might influence us.

May his words of advice and encouragement be a z'chut for our Yeshiva goiing into Yamim Nora'im and this upcoming year.
