On Sunday evening, August 25, I joined neighborhood families for the annual Stahler Orchestra Music-A-Thon, now in its seventh year. The program attracted many locals who enjoyed a performance of classic Jewish tunes in the Hershkowitz family backyard on 68th Avenue in Kew Gardens Hills. As of this writing, the music-a-thon raised $2,130. For the younger children, a bouncy house added to the excitement. Additionally, the Stahlers prepared nosh pekalach with musical note cookies for guests to indulge. It was great to see the musicians working hand-in-hand to create such a phenomenal production!
A special shout-out goes to the boys and girls from our local day camps for making an incredible difference in Chai Lifeline’s monumental work! The youth and staff raised a whopping $85,840, including Simcha Day Camp’s $24,650, Avnet HALB’s $19,828, Orah Day Camp’s $9,341, Camp Shira’s $8,871, Camp Areivim’s $5,900, Chazak Girls’ $5,785, Chazak Boys’ $3,887, Magen Israel Great Neck’s $2,738, Camp Funshine’s $921, Camp Yala’s $880, Queens Kids’ $631, Ganeinu’s $152, and Ohr Avner Day Camp’s $125. The camps dedicated their Chai-A-Thon campaign in honor of two special Chai Lifeline warriors: Benny and Miriam. Their donations put huge smiles on their faces as they enjoyed their experiences this summer at Camp Simcha!
