On Thursday night, March 14, the community gathered at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills for an inspiring, powerful program hosted by Queens Jewish Link, Bukharian Jewish Link, Chazaq, Queens Jewish Community Center, Queens Jewish Alliance, and the Department of Zionist Activities in the Diaspora.
“The Mayor of Yerushalayim is coming!” Students and teachers of JIQ (Jewish Institute of Queens) prepared excitedly for this historic visit on Friday, March 1. The students in grades four, five, and six stood outside the door holding Israeli flags and singing “Am Yisrael Chai” to welcome Mayor Moshe Lion.
Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky shlita told Leah Richeimer that the avodah of our generation is shalom bayis. He encouraged her to continue her holy work of teaching this to everyone and guiding couples towards this. When shalom bayis is strong, then other problems will diminish, and this can bring Mashiach.
On Sunday evening, February 18, Rabbi Dr. Akiva Tatz, South African Orthodox rabbi, inspirational speaker and writer involved in Jewish outreach, and world-renowned expert in Jewish medical ethics, spoke on behalf of Emet Outreach at the Young Israel of Queens Valley. His topic was “Happiness in a Sad World.”
On Sunday evening, March 3, Let’s Get Real With Coach Menachem Bernfeld featured two experts on autism, Robert J. Bernstein, MA Ed - Special Education, educational consultant and author of Uniquely Normal, and Nochum Monosov, MS Ed, BCBA, educational consultant.
On Tuesday evening, February 27, Dr. Mel Breite, Founder and Director of the Navigating the Medical System Lecture Series, welcomed everyone to a virtual lecture hosted by Congregation Etz Chaim.
