As Vice President Kamala Harris cast her tiebreaking vote to ensure the Senate passage of the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” the Democrats in the chamber broke into a resounding applause. The whooping, cheering, and hollering was a celebration, an achievement they did not think they would accomplish before the end of the Congressional term.
They mugged the American people.
This is not new to Democrats, who have made stealing from the American people a central tenet of their platform since inception. Biden was always lying when he pledged to never raise taxes on anyone making under $400,000, but to do it so blatantly, with such fervor, will go down as the greatest lie of his vastly dishonest and failing presidency.
The “Inflation Reduction Act” does nothing to curb inflation. This is not the rhetoric of a rapid right-winger who is, at minimum, skeptical of everything Democrats put to a vote. This comes straight from self-described socialist Bernie Sanders. “According to the CBO and other economic organizations that study this bill,” Sanders said, “it will, in fact, have a minimal impact on inflation.” In classic fashion, he then proceeded to vote for the bill.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is on cloud nine, as he managed to broker this deal with longtime holdout Joe Manchin to sneak this tax on the American people with the slimmest of majorities. “This is a great day,” Schumer said. He praised the bill, claiming that it is “the single biggest climate investment in US history,” and proclaiming, “To the tens of millions of young Americans who have spent years marching, rallying, demanding that Congress act on climate change: THIS BILL IS FOR YOU!”
Funny, but there is nothing about climate change in the title of the “Inflation Reduction Act.”
Let’s call this bill for what it really is: the “Green New Deal.” This is a pure Climate Change bill, plain and simple. $369 billion is spent on climate-related initiatives, another $300 billion in green subsidies. The wealthy get even more money when they decide to buy electric with a large tax deduction, while those who can’t afford an EV are stuck with the bill.
How will all of this be paid for? Well, if you earn more than $30,000 per year, your taxes are going up. Don’t worry, though, because the IRS is getting 87,000 more agents to make sure you pay every penny the Democrats are stealing from you.
Then there’s the Medicare costs, which are going to force all other healthcare costs for anyone not on Medicare to skyrocket. This bill allows the Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate on medication prices, which will force pharmaceutical companies to charge higher prices to private insurance companies, which will be passed to the consumer. Meanwhile, those pharmaceutical companies will try to protect their balance sheets by reducing investment in Research and Development, stopping future innovation of life-saving drugs. Progress!
Remember when insurance premiums skyrocketed after Obamacare subsidies were passed? Well, it’s about to happen again, as this bill extended those subsidies through 2025.
And while the Biden administration is taking a victory lap because the price of gas dropped by 17% after increasing by over 100% since he took office, this bill adds another tax on crude oil imports into the United States. So not only is Biden blocking drilling domestic energy, he’s increasing taxes on foreign energy - right before the weather turns cold and people need that oil to heat their homes.
In a just world, every single Democratic Senate seat would be in play this coming November. Joe Pinion, who is running to fire Chuck Schumer, should have a 10-point lead after this bill. But this is not a just world, and liars get to rob you blind and then demand your gratitude and allegiance. Even when the Democrats are defeated this November, the damage is done. It will take years to undo the harm they did to our country. All we can do is hunker down and weather the storm that they’ve brought on us.
