The essence of Shabbos and outpouring of school spirit that usually accompanies the annual Shabbaton of the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls were extremely apparent the week of November 16!

This week at IVDU Long Island Morah Frumit’s class kicked off the start of our K’riah Program with a sweet and memorable celebration. Students were treated to the traditional honey on Alef-Beis charts, made their own chocolate Alef-Beis letters, and made Alef-Beis pekalach to mark this exciting milestone.

In an effort to ensure that Freshmen have a smooth high school transition, MTA proudly offers an enhanced Freshman Experience, including fun events, guidance sessions, and team-building workshops, which enable talmidim to bond cohesively as a grade and interact with boys whom they may not share classes with.

HALB celebrated Rosh Chodesh Kislev with dreidels in the preschool, giant chocolate coins in the middle school, and fresh muffins from Central Perk for the staff!

Rambam Mesivta students and staff sported their favorite attire for Spirit Week this past week in a fundraiser to benefit Achiezer. Students dressed both up and down for the festivities, with each day having its own theme.

The new BYQ Rosh Chodesh Initiative, entitled “Double in a Bubble,” was introduced on Tuesday, Rosh Chodesh Kislev. The purpose of the program is to counteract some of the feelings of isolation that the students are experiencing due to social distancing, Plexiglas, and mask-wearing. The program is based on the pasuk in Koheles, “Tovim ha’shnayim min ha’echad – Two are better than one.” Although each class is in its “class bubble” and practicing distancing guidelines, a different fun and exciting activity will be done each Rosh Chodesh in pairs (“double”) to encourage camaraderie, partnership, sharing, and caring.
