Our friend Stuart Schnee shared a Zoom conference with family and friends to tell what its been like the past few days in Israel. He shared how much it means to people in Israel to know that we are there for them and supporting them. Our whole community is davening, and davening for a quick end to this horror!

On Monday night, October 9, the Young Israel of Queens Valley overflowed with community members gathering in support of Israel to recite T’hilim together and to hear words of hisorerus from Rabbi Herschel Welcher, Rav of Congregation Ahavas Yisrael, and Rabbi Doniel Lander, Rosh HaYeshivah of Yeshiva Ohr HaChaim. The event was hosted by the Vaad Harabonim of Queens and Rabbanei KGH.

On Wednesday night, September 20, Congregation Ohel Sara hosted an overflow crowd of community women gathered to hear an inspiring shiur by Rebbetzin Slovie Jungreis Wolff. The shiur, titled “Better Your Relationships, Better Your Year,” was hosted by Chazaq, Amudim, and UJA.

Kew Gardens Hills residents know that we have a vibrant public library (the Queens Public Library of Kew Gardens Hills) that tries to serve the needs of our community. But did you know there is a volunteer organization that provides additional activities at our local library? It’s called Friends of the Kew Gardens Hills Library, and most activities are focused on children or seniors.

On Monday evening, September 11, The Rabbi Fabian Schonfeld Adult Education Center featured an inspiring lecture by Rabbi Shay Schachter at the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills. Rabbi Schachter is the Rosh Beis Midrash at the Young Israel of Woodmere, overseeing its extensive adult educational programs. He is the Rabbi and spiritual leader of Yachad, the Orthodox Union’s international program for individuals with disabilities.
