The Torah in several places warns us not to sacrifice our children to the pagan idol Molech (see Vayikra 18:21). As we know from Rashi, Molech involved building two bonfires for the idol and having one’s son walk in between the fires.
It seems like my last few articles have been about the self-hatred of Jews. Most recently, I wrote of Congressional candidate Brad Lander and Senator Charles Schumer, who both hit lows in their abandonment of the Jewish people.
A cousin of mine, this past Shabbos, ended up davening in a chasidish bungalow colony. He said he was very welcomed there and was given an aliyah as well as an invitation to participate in the kiddush that followed davening. They were all very cordial.
Benjamin Netanyahu referred to Mayor Mamdani as “anti-Semitic” in a blistering criticism of the mayor during his speech to the United Nations. No doubt a lot of his sentiments were due to Mamdani’s aim of arresting Netanyahu when he landed in New York, but the charge remains nonetheless.
Self-proclaimed “Shomer Yisrael” Senator Charles Schumer has done it again. Abdul El-Sayed, whom Schumer did not endorse in his primary bid against Haley Stevens, suddenly received his backing following his unfortunate victory.
Most of the media, like The New York Times and BBC, described the terrorist attack on the pilot on the Flydubai flight to Israel as an “altercation” between the two pilots. Some altercation. It was an attack by the Omani copilot Hamam Al-Hammani on the Indian captain Smit Machchhar with a crash axe found in the cockpit.
