This past Friday, Assemblymember Jenifer Rajkumar, recognized by her signature “woman in red” look, visited Kew Gardens Hills as part of her campaign for New York City Public Advocate. She spent a considerable amount of time engaging with local residents, visiting businesses, and walking along Main Street connecting.
Rajkumar, who represents New York’s 38th Assembly District—including the Queens neighborhoods of Glendale, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, Ridgewood, and Woodhaven—has long been a familiar and trusted figure within New York’s Jewish community. Known for her unwavering support of Israel and the Jewish people, she has consistently prioritized engaging with the community, attending key events, and advocating on issues that matter most to Jewish New Yorkers. Her approach, both as an Assemblymember and a Public Advocate candidate, has earned her the respect and trust of constituents across the city.
Rajkumar’s relationship with the Orthodox Jewish community is particularly strong. She regularly participates in important gatherings, such as the Israel Day Parade on Fifth Avenue, where she stands in solidarity with thousands of Jewish New Yorkers. Her actions reflect a deep commitment to Israel and the broader Jewish cause, whether in moments of celebration or during times of adversity.
As a staunch advocate against antisemitism, Rajkumar is vocal in her efforts to denounce hate and ensure the safety of Jewish communities. Her quick response to incidents of antisemitism has proven her ability to act swiftly and protect Jewish New Yorkers.
During her visit to Kew Gardens Hills, Rajkumar took the time to meet with Chazaq leadership and engage with local business owners, further demonstrating her commitment to connecting with the community. As she walked through the neighborhood, she listened to residents’ concerns and shared her vision for a stronger, more inclusive city.
Special thanks to Community Advisor Alan Sherman for arranging the visit and to Queens Jewish Alliance Chairperson Sorolle Idels for her participation in making the day a success. Rajkumar’s campaign stop in Kew Gardens Hills was an important opportunity for the candidate to once again hear directly from the community and reaffirm her commitment to representing and advocating for New York’s Jewish population, particularly in Queens.
