Assemblyman Sam Berger, in partnership with Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, Senator Leroy Comrie, and Councilman James Gennaro, recently hosted a successful e-waste recycling, paper-shredding, and sheimos event at Aron’s Kissena Farms, where more than 200 local residents safely disposed of e-waste, personal documents, and sacred texts.

The event provided community members with a secure and environmentally responsible way to dispose of old or unwanted electronics and shred personal documents on-site, helping protect sensitive information while promoting responsible recycling. In total, 2.29 tons of paper were collected.

In addition, the event featured a dedicated collection of sheimos, worn-out or damaged Jewish religious texts and items that are buried according to Jewish tradition. Some 120 boxes of sheimos were collected to ensure they were treated in accordance with Jewish law.
