Ben and Samantha Kramer; Shalom and Natalie Rakhminov;
and Mrs. Sandra Dua To Be Honored
Yeshiva of Central Queens will celebrate its seventy-ninth anniversary with a gala Scholarship Dinner which will IY”H take place Motzaei Shabbos February 29 at the Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation, it was announced by Israel Glaser, Chairman of the YCQ Board of Trustees.
Selected as Guests of Honor are Ben and Samantha Kramer, whose involvement in the Yeshiva began when their oldest son, Gavriel, entered the Yeshiva in 2012. This special couple has used its talents to achieve many accomplishments for the Yeshiva. As President of the Parent Teachers Organization, Samantha gave the PTO a big boost by raising enthusiasm among the parents and upgrading the efficiency of its operations. She also organized the first ever PTO auction which took place at the Yeshiva’s Annual Dinner and was a great success. Recognizing Ben’s growing commitment to the activities of the Board of Trustees, the Board recently appointed him to the Executive Committee as Financial Secretary. Ben represents YCQ at the annual CIJE golf outing.
Natalie and Shalom Rakhminov have been chosen as Parents of the Year. Natalie is an alumna of the class of 2003 and the Rakhminovs currently have three children attending YCQ. Natalie attributes her family’s love of Torah to the outstanding education she received at YCQ and that which her children are presently enjoying. Natalie is an active member for the Board of Trustees, bringing a fresh spirit to its deliberations. She is very involved with the PTO and was instrumental in the success of the Sefer Torah that was written in memory of YCQ student Adina Paknoush a”h. Natalie played a key role in the PTO-sponsored Challah Bake which took place last spring with the participation of an overwhelming crowd. Natalie’s husband, Shalom, has high praise for the excitement for Yiddishkeit that the children bring home, enhancing the entire family. Shalom, a successful pharmacist, participates in numerous kiruv projects such as Chazaq and Emet.
Mrs. Sandra Dua will be honored with the Yeshiva’s Educator Award, for her eighteen years of dedication to her fourth-grade students. Her devotion and love for her students have made her an outstanding role model and has earned her their respect and admiration. Her students benefit from the precious lessons they have learned from her which they are applying to their lives and careers. Dr. Joel Wein, President of the Yeshiva, emphasized that the primary purpose of the Dinner is to support the Yeshiva’s Scholarship Fund. “We hope that everyone will participate in the important mitzvah of hachzakat haTorah.”
Parents, alumni, and friends of the honorees are asked to place ads in the online journal which will be showcased at the Dinner and to personally participate in this salute to the Yeshiva and its most deserving honorees.
