The past few weeks marked many exciting and meaningful moments for Emet students and educators. Here are a few highlights:

Poland and Prague Trip – Thirty-seven Emet students just returned from a life-changing trip to historical Jewish sites in Poland and Prague. Led by Rabbi Mordechai Kraft, Emet’s Educational Director, the itinerary included emotional and thought-provoking visits to concentration camps, mass graves, synagogues, and yeshivos. This trip, Emet’s first of two for this summer, is a culmination of a year of learning about Judaism and spending Shabbos with Emet.

Spain Trip – Rabbi Reuven Kigel, Emet’s Campus Director, accompanied 12 students to Spain for an “Olami Impact Forum.” This summit for young Jewish leaders drew 500 students plus educators from around the world. There was tremendous unity among the Olami student ambassadors, plus exceptional programming including a riveting lecture by Charlie Harary and an electrifying concert by Yaakov Shwekey.

Young Professionals Event – The first in a series of monthly events for Emet’s thriving Young Professionals division was held at the Meo Hibachi & Kosher Steakhouse in Fresh Meadows, Queens. Rabbi Lawrence Hajioff, renowned author and educator, enthralled the crowd. The Young Professionals events are designed to keep young men and women engaged and connected to Judaism once they complete Emet’s fellowships programs and pursue their careers.

Far Rockaway Shabbaton Emet students experienced an inspirational Shabbos in the Far Rockaway community. The students enjoyed moving programming and Shabbos meals. The Shabbos experience culminated with an extraordinary musical Havdalah by Eitan Katz at the home of Aaron and Ellen Wolfson. This Shabbaton was part of the completion of Emet’s Spring Fellowship, which attracted over 200 students to local campuses.
