US Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, last week met with several family members whose loved ones are being held hostage by Hamas.
The families traveled to Capitol Hill to share their stories, call for the release of their loved ones, and make sure that they are not forgotten.
The Congresswoman met with seven family members and participated in a press conference with four other families.
Families of two New Yorkers were among those she met, as well as survivors and an individual whose mother was killed by Hamas.
“I remain horrified by the barbaric and inhumane atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7,” said Meng. “As we continue to mourn the victims, I again call for the safe and immediate return of all the hostages. Meeting with family members truly moved me, and their resilience and steadfastness inspired me. I cannot imagine the pain they are going through, and my heart aches for them and their loved ones. My commitment to reuniting the families remains unwavering.”
Meng is a cosponsor of H.Res. 793 which calls on Hamas to immediately release the hostages, and she voted for a measure this past week that expressed support for Israel and condemned Hamas.
