It has long been said that when one begins their voting process at a young age, they tend to vote diligently in the years that follow. The final date to register to vote for the upcoming citywide Primary elections is Friday, May 28. To ensure the largest turn out amongst young voters, Avi Cyperstein, a City Council candidate for district 29, organized several voter drives in local yeshivot and shuls.

Chaverim of Queens celebrated its “bar mitzvah” this past Thursday at the Annual Queens Chaverim Appreciation Dinner. Now with over 100 active volunteers, Chaverim continues to be a vital source for non-medical emergency situations throughout literally all areas of Queens, as well as Great Neck.

The recent violence in Israel has led to an unprecedented disturbing rise in antisemitic attacks and violence targeting Jewish communities worldwide.

This past week, the Chazaq organization had the honor of having Rabbi Yaakov Mizrahi (Rav, Har Halebanon
in Brooklyn) visit the Chazaq headquarters in KGH and get a glimpse into Chazaq’s holy work.

We are very fortunate at Margaret Tietz to have wonderful community volunteers, including families, seniors, and good friends of Margaret Tietz to share a Sunday morning to beautify the magnificent garden that has been created through their hands. Project ReBloom was created in memory of Faye Dor, a resident who passed away a few years ago. Her love of flowers and gardening inspired her friends to gather each fall and spring at Margaret Tietz to bring this beautiful Garden to our residents, visitors, and staff.

In a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise and Jewish values are under attack, the Jewish community of New York is glad to see that Brooklyn Borough President and mayoral candidate Eric Adams is leading the polls to become mayor of New York.
