Assemblyman Daniel Rosenthal, representative from Queens, has been appointed by the UJA-Federation of New York to a top position.  Rosenthal, 32, will be the organization’s vice president of government relations, succeeding Louisa Chafee.  

The first plaque explaining a building’s historical, cultural, and architectural significance in Forest Hills went up on Sunday, June 4. More are coming.

It is a challenging undertaking to encapsulate the commitment and sacrifice of Rabbi Aryeh and Rebbetzin Sokoloff. For 26 years, they have given of themselves in every conceivable way. They have provided spiritual and religious guidance to the entire Queens community. The Rabbi’s halachic leadership is sought throughout the local neighborhood and throughout Queens, both as head of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens (VHQ) and as a superior talmid chacham. He and the Rebbetzin have personally been involved in the journey back to Torah for literally hundreds of people. Rabbi Sokoloff’s devotion to the students of Shevach High School is legendary, as he insists on infusing not only their minds, but their hearts, with the deep awareness that they are Hashem’s children and worthy of respect and individual accomplishment.

Chazaq, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to Jewish outreach, is thrilled to announce an upcoming Jewish Cultural Carnival on Sunday, June 11, presented in conjunction with the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI) and Councilman James F. Gennaro. This highly anticipated event, now in its annual iteration, will once again bring together a wide range of attractions and performances, creating a festive and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.

Shalom Task Force, an organization dedicated to fostering healthy relationships within the Jewish community, hosted the “Let’s Talk Relationships,” a workshop for Seminary and Gap-Year Program students at the Nefesh B’Nefesh Aliyah Campus in Jerusalem. The program, held on May 15, brought together students from 10 different seminaries for an enriching evening of learning and discussion.

Our efforts in fulfilling one mitzvah always contribute to the fulfillment of another. This concept is highlighted in Parshas B’Haaloscha, where the unique mitzvah of Pesach Sheini is introduced.
