This week, the third grade talmidos at Bnos Malka Academy embarked on an exciting journey that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives – Sefer T’hilim. Learning T’hilim and becoming fluent with the beautiful and uplifting words is something special for the girls to treasure.
Through life’s inevitable ups and downs, learning T’hilim will help build the base of a lifelong relationship of and connection to Hashem. Additionally, it is also a prime opportunity for students to work on their reading fluency, by practicing timed reading at home. There are five booklets of T’hilim to complete. and at the conclusion of each one, there is a special something waiting for the girls.
Ms. Fink, one of the third grade moros, made a beautiful presentation about T’hilim to get students excited and also give them a peek at the meaningfulness of this sefer. Before beginning each new booklet, third grade moros Ms. Wagner or Ms. Fink will present some more details about T’hilim and about David HaMelech. The talmidos are so excited to get started and be the first Bnos Malka class to work on this project. Dr. Babad, assistant principal of the lower grades, said, “Authentic learning is always the best way to learn. What could be better than practicing k’riah fluency while saying T’hilim? Bnos Yisrael are never too young to begin saying T’hilim. While all the grades say T’hilim together every morning, there is something really special about students building an individual kesher with Sefer T’hilim.
