It’s the moment students at Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central) wait for all year – the call to Color War! The 2025 YUHSG Color War was officially announced on Tuesday, March 18, to great excitement. Color War is perhaps the most anticipated student event of the year, and emotions ran high as the school rolled out the year’s theme, “A Mikdash in the Making.”

In keeping with the theme of building a Mikdash, each of the four grades represented a different kli crucial to completing the Mikdash. The class of 2025, helmed by captains Gabi Boriskin, Tali Levy, and Miriam Siegman, represented Bigdei K’hunah, or the clothing of the Kohen Gadol. Seniors were particularly struck by the gravity of the moment, as it is their last chance to bond over Color War as a class.

Tali said, “Because it’s our last Color War, our sense of unity is strong. We’re putting in a lot of effort. It is important, because Color War brings the grade closer.” As one of the Color War captains, Tali played a formative role in guiding her grade through the competitions. On being named captain, Tali commented, “It was the best moment of my life. I’m not even kidding.”

The junior class, led by captains Tamar Frankel, Ellie Gross, and Shirel Shaool, were represented by the Menorah. “Color War is my favorite part of the year,” said junior Dina Milchman. “We get to work together as a team and create songs, dances, banners – but it’s also fun to watch the other grades and see their presentations. We get to share the energy and the unity and the good times.”

The sophomores, guided by captains Noa Berman, Camryn Brunner, and Maya Goykadosh, represented the Mizbei’ach.

Lastly, the freshman class, which represented the Aron Kodesh, were led into the first Color War of their high school careers by captains Nili Brukner, Aliza Milchman, and Maya Nof.

Along with time-honored rounds of basketball, dodgeball, and Apache relay races, the teams were challenged by rounds of Chidon, “fill the kiyor” rounds of bucket brigade, and a Shark Tank-style innovation chesed match.

Each team was also called upon to create a grade cheer, design a grade banner inspired by the event’s theme, write a d’var Torah, and present a halachah. The result? Four classes of Wildcats that worked hard, bonded, and gave their absolute best for 2025 while creating meaningful memories. A hearty congratulations to each team for their dedication and hard work, as well as to this year’s ultimate Color War winners, the junior class.

Enormous thanks to all the faculty members who helped to facilitate the event – and particularly the Director of Programming and Judaic Studies faculty member, Ms. Sydney Daitch, who coordinated this year’s celebrations.
