As the temperatures drop, the Chaverim of Queens and Great Neck dispatch line has seen its annual uptick in call volume. In response to the growing demand for non-medical emergency assistance, the organization – now in its 17th year – has once again equipped a new group of volunteers with essential emergency response tools.

On Tuesday evening, December 17, these fresh recruits braved the freezing weather to participate in hands-on training. The session covered the most common community assistance requests, including jump-starting car batteries, fixing flat tires, and unlocking vehicles – key services provided by the group. Special thanks go to senior members and trainers, including Coordinator Shuie Alter, Elchanan Aronov, Hillel Englard, and Yosef Noy, who conducted the comprehensive training course. The event took place in the parking lot of Bnos Malka Academy in Forest Hills, generously made available by Rabbi Akiva Spingarn, the school’s Executive Director and a fellow Chaverim member.

After completing the training, Dispatch Coordinator Eliyahu Love officially equipped the new recruits with the tools needed to begin their service, finalizing their onboarding process into the esteemed organization.

The newly welcomed members include Simcha Avruch, Shlomo Berkovitch, Moshe Berkovitch, Binyamin Kroll, David Kohanim, Aviel Livian, Hillel Pinsky, Ari Shachar, and Yehuda Stern.
