In an unprecedented move, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took the opportunity to criticize the leadership of a foreign nation. “Amidst what is one of the world’s more tumultuous regimes, Jews living under the rule of King Achashveirosh killed 75,000 souls,” Schumer stated. “It has become clear to me: The Mordechai coalition no longer fits the needs of Jews after 14 Adar. The world has changed, radically, since then, and the Jewish people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past.”

Schumer called on the removal of Mordechai from his position as Royal Vizier and for new leadership to take his place. “After reports came out about the plans to annihilate the Jews on 14 Adar, the world was on the side of the Jews. Today, under Mordechai’s leadership, the Jews from Hodu to Kush are now looked at as the aggressors.

Notably, no mention was made of the leadership responsible for the initial attack waged against the Jews. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell noted that “it is not Schumer’s place to tell a sovereign nation, an ally, how to run its own government. Shushan is not a colony of America, whose leaders serve at the pleasure of the party in power in Washington.”

Political commentator Ben Shapiro added that “had Hama(s)n’s combatants just not attacked the Jews, they would not have died. It is absolutely abhorrent that Schumer is blaming the Jews for defending themselves. Let’s not forget who started this war. On 13 Adar, there was no war. Hama(s)n messed around and found out, and now some people are getting angry because Jews are not allowing themselves to be slaughtered by a genocidal organization.

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who is of Shushanian descent, has been sounding the alarm that the Jews of Shushan are committing acts of genocide. “Against whom?” asked Senator Ted Cruz. “Achashveirosh rules over 127 states with hundreds of millions of citizens. The Jews are only going after those who attacked them. If they were committing a genocide, there would be a lot more than 75,000 dead.”

It seems that there are those on the extreme left who are getting to Schumer, who before Mordechai ascending to his position, was the highest-ranking Jewish official in any country in the world. Schumer, historically a strong ally of Mordechai, has suddenly turned on his Jewish brethren once others in his party got squeamish about Jews defending themselves from an attempted genocide.

For his part, Mordechai blasted Schumer, saying, “Jews will no longer apologize for showing might in the face of terror. And we will not kowtow to a foreign politician who has no clue what we are going through. Am Yisrael Chai.”
