Do you often wonder what color shadows work best for your eyes? Choosing the right shades will help play up the windows to your soul and enhance your natural beauty.  Whether your eyes are brown, blue, hazel, or green, there are choices for everyone.

Eyeshadow for Brown Eyes

Brown eyes have unlimited possibilities, as they are not dependent on the complimentary hues of the color wheel. The following are some great choices, which will make brown eyes pop.

Purples: You can opt for instant drama by creating smoky eyes with various shades of plums and eggplant. For those with flecks of golden brown in their eyes, try complimentary shades of deep purple to create a beautiful glow.

Browns: If you like a natural look, try various browns, taupes, and golden shadows, as they will naturally accentuate your eyes.  For some added depth, use rich to medium browns at the outer corners.

Coppery Orange: This shade can do wonders for brown eyes. Its rich warmth brings out the fire and passion in brown eyes

Teal: If you’re a fan of color, this type of vibrant shade can add pop to the eye. It also compliments almost any skin tone.

Eyeshadow for Blue Eyes

If you’re familiar with the color wheel, you will note that the primary and secondary colors are all grouped together and organized according to warm and cool colors, which create the color wheel. On this wheel, each hue has a complimentary color, which is on the opposite side of the wheel. A complimentary color usually refers to a color that makes the opposite color on the wheel pop due to its contrast.

Golds and Coppers: These bright metallic colors will make blue eyes pop. For more greenish-blue eyes, try antique gold shades.

Peach: If your complexion is warm, this color can really enhance the eyes.

Champagne and Ivory colors: These light shades look great on blue eyes, are appropriate for any occasion, and the perfect neutrals.

Baby Pinks and Lavenders: These subtle shades are light and airy, and showcase blue eyes in a soft and feminine way.

Blues: If you have very small lids or eyes that are not a true blue, a bit of blue will accentuate the blue in your eyes. To add some drama, you can add a tinge of navy as an accent color or to the outer third of the eye for a smoky look.

Eyeshadow for Green Eyes

On the color wheel, Green and Red are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Therefore, eye shadows with some underlying reddish tones i.e. pinks, mahogany, and peach tones, will suit green eyes.

Peach: This is an energetic shade that can give green eyes a burst of color in a soft and natural way.

Grays: If your complexion is cool, this can enhance your green eyes. The cool silvery tones can flatter this eye color.

Browns and Mauves: These shades bring out the natural beauty in green eyes and can create a great daytime look.

Greens: A little green goes a long way as an accent color. For a real pop, try a shade that closely matches the color in your eye.

Eyeshadow for Hazel Eyes

This eye color is a combination of green and brown tones and often appears to have golden flecks. The eye color tends to shift, depending on the shades of eye shadow applied.

Mauves: A nice variety of pinks go well with hazel eyes. You can mix a combination of warm and cool pinks. Rose gold can help accent the brown in your eyes.

Wine and Burgundy: These earthy shades will bring out the green tone in your hazel eyes, while complimenting the brown tones.

Plum and Navy: To add some depth and drama to your eyes, try a bit of plum or navy to enhance the eye and lend a beautiful glow.

Greens and Browns: If you like earthy tones and want the eye to pop, try using soft and shimmery neutral browns. Then, add a greenish gold shade to really enhance your eyes.

The right shades of makeup can enhance any eye, no matter what the color. The choices are unlimited, depending on your preference, outfit, and occasion.  So have some fun experimenting with different looks.
