Sowing The Seeds Of Good Health At Queens Botanical Garden

On Sunday, Queens families joined staff from NewYork-Presbyterian Queens for Twist & Sprout! – a fun and educational afternoon at the Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing. The event was inspired by the pediatric residents from Weill Cornell Medicine during their training in community pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. The residents took a lead role in organizing and shaping the afternoon’s programming, and were on hand to engage with the community and offer health tips.

On Tuesday, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America welcomed the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 2476, legislation which would fund the federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) at $75 million for fiscal years 2020-2024 – a 25 percent increase over the 2019 allocation.

Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue was awash in blue and white last Sunday as participants marched and watched the Celebrate Israel Parade. The event kicked off promptly at 11 a.m., but instead of elected officials, the procession was led by uniformed officers and veterans groups. “I was called by a stranger and told to meet someone on Lexington Avenue and East 53rd Street. If he drops a newspaper, I must follow him,” said Bayside resident Paul Kaye, 92. “The call ended with the line, ‘If you want to help your people.’”
