Connecting the Queens Jewish Community “United we stand, divided we fall” sounds logical — but is it practical or even possible?
How strong is the support for Republican candidates on Long Island? Apparently valuable enough for the party’s headliner to hold a rally at Nassau Coliseum last week, filling the arena and its surrounding parking lot.
In parshas Ki Savo, we have the tochacha, rebuke, and the long list of curses Bnei Yisrael will receive if they don’t follow the Torah. The curses were actually so severe and harsh, that at the beginning of next week’s parsha, Nizavim, Moshe Rabbeinu had to calm down Bnei Yisrael because horiku pneihem, their faces turned green from fear. How can we manage to follow the entire Torah, keep all the mitzvos, and not sin and still be deserving of all these curses?!
In a rare exception to the rule, social media went viral over a pro-Jewish post this week in which actress Patricia Heaton installed a mezuzah on her doorpost “to show solidarity” with “Jewish friends and neighbors, fight anti-Semitism, and bless your household.” She then created a name for her campaign: #MyzuzahYourzuzah.
With less than two months to go until Election Day, the Kamala Harris transition team is starting to take shape, and names are being dropped on who will hold key cabinet positions should she win the presidency. Several “outreach director” appointments in the campaign are concerning enough, but the reports of who Harris has on the shortlist for Attorney General is a harbinger on how morally bankrupt this administration could be.
A debate filled with lies. A disastrous solo interview. Now another assassination attempt on her political opponent. Kamala Harris is a coin flip away from becoming the President of the United States, and from every possible angle, she is wholly and completely unfit for the job she seeks.
On Saturday, August 31, six hostages, including American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who were taken by Hamas on October 7, were found executed by Hamas as IDF soldiers were closing in. I attempted to write an official statement at that time, but no statement I could conceive of put that act of unspeakable barbarity in the appropriate context of overall systemic barbarity on the part of Hamas and its patron Iran – the head of the snake – and the series of harmful actions and inaction by the United States generally, and the Biden administration specifically, which led to these six hostages being murdered. To attempt to isolate and mourn this event in isolation is to ignore the continuum of events that led to the murder of these six innocents, and I can no longer mourn victims in a vacuum. Every such episode is an opportunity to demand a change for what got us here.
