In Social Studies, the eighth graders were asked to create an invention and then present it using the digital tool, FlipGrid. In each class, the top two finalists were chosen to show off their invention during an assembly on Wednesday, November 20. Each finalist group created an exceptional invention – unique and innovative.

On Thursday night, November 21, the third and fourth graders of the Bnos Malka Academy gathered for an inspirational mother-daughter evening entitled “A night to focus on the lessons we can learn from Sarah Imeinu.” The girls prepared for this program by learning about Sarah Imeinu and about the special mitzvah of Hafrashas Challah.

On October 29 (in WH) and November 4 (in PL), the Middle School held open forums for parents of fifth and sixth graders. Parents heard from Rabbi Hecht and Mrs. Morey about the Judaic and general studies classes. Mrs. Morey also discussed the vast array of clubs that the Middle School offers. Mrs. Hus (Director of Learning Support) and Dr. Levey (Director of Counseling) spoke about their departments and the integral roles they play.

The Rambam Mesivta Writers’ Guild began in 2013 and was formed by Zechariah Rosenthal when he was entering his junior year. It began with six members and quickly grew to a dozen. Now, close to 30 students are part of the Guild and meet to discuss creative writing and storytelling.

Last week, Civic Spirit club members traveled to the New York Historical Society (NYHS). They heard a lecture, given by Richard Brookhiser, about his new book, Give Me Liberty: The History of America’s Exceptional Idea, which traces American history through 13 essential documents. He told fascinating stories relating to women’s voting rights, Emma Lazarus and the Statue of Liberty, FDR’s Arsenal of Democracy speech, and free speech. The students were also joined by Civic Spirit Director Lindsay Bressman.
